Cape Romain Sea Turtle Program
The Coastal Expeditions Foundation pays the seasonal salaries of three wildlife technicians needed to run the Loggerhead Sea Turtle Program in Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge, raising $55,000 each year.
Over the last thirty years, we've endlessly explored, paddled and trekked the water trails that weave through the Lowcounty of South Carolina. The pressures on our natural resources are greater than ever, and we know from our work that the best way to get people to act is to give them a meaningful experience in that environment. The foundation is a natural extension of Coastal Expeditions, Inc., allowing our passion for things like loggerhead conservation and environmental education to expand.
The mission of the Coastal Expeditions Foundation is to ensure that experiences with wildlife and the habitats we all share are accessible for all, and to provide opportunities for us to channel our collective passion for the environment into preserving and visiting these ecosystems for generations to come.
We do this through our three program pillars: education, community service, and habitat and wildlife conservation.

In 2017, Coastal Expeditions created the Veterans Sea Kayak Resilience Program, giving local veterans the skills they need to prevent suicide by connecting them to their environment and each other. Once they finish the program, they are invited to be a part of the Coastal Warriors Council to maintain their community and give back. Sign up for this free program sponsored by Boeing SC.
Since 1992, Coastal Expeditions has been leading educational field trips to places like Shem Creek, Black River and Bulls Island. Our newest program, Outside In, gets students from Sanders-Clyde Elementary School on field trips at no charge to students or schools.
The Coastal Expeditions Foundation was part of the team that saved Crab Bank Seabird Sanctuary in Charleston harbor. We continue with our focus on seabirds through educational trips, seabird stewardship and island rookery litter sweeps.
The Coastal Expeditions Foundation is proud to be a part of this collective action to direct philanthropic giving to environmental causes.
