Monday and Tuesday- 9am-3pm
Wednesday-Friday- Camping! 9am drop off on Wednesday, 3pm pick up on Friday
Come out with Coastal Expeditions for a week of outdoor adventure! On this trip you can expect to learn backcountry skills, build a community, and have fun in wild spaces!
This week-long outdoor skills course revolves around the theme of environmental knowledge, introducing participants to multiple ecosystems and environments that make up the Lowcountry.
Throughout the week, campers will develop outdoor skills during their explorations of places like Shem Creek and Bulls Island.
The week will conclude with a multi-day kayaking and primitive camping trip in the Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge where we will put our outdoor skills to the test.
Led by two of Coastal Expeditions’ top guides, you’ll find that this is a challenging week designed for students that are interested in outdoor recreation, marine biology and related studies.
Things to Know
BACKCOUNTRY SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

-Pack a tent, pitch a tent
GENERAL ITINERARY
Day 1: Introduction to fishing
Day 2: Introduction to kayaking and paddleboarding at Isle of Palms and prep for camping expedition.
Day 3: Drop off for camping trip! Camping will take place in the Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge.
Day 4: Biking, kayaking, fishing, and hiking in the Refuge.
Day 5: Pack up and head out to Bulls Island to finish up the trip! Back to Shem Creek for pick up at 3pm
SAFETY
All counselors are certified in lifeguarding, first aid/CPR and ACA kayaking.
PAYMENT
50% deposit due at time of booking.
INCLUDES
Guide service, kayaks (and related gear), tents, all meals/snacks (Wednesday-Friday), transportation
