Winter Break Camp Itinerary

December 28th: Morris Island Fossil Hunt
Campers will take the school boat, Gannet, to Morris Island in the Charleston Harbor for a day of fossil hunting, birding, dolphin-spotting and maritime forest exploration.

December 29th: Crab Bank Kayak Adventure
Campers will learn the basics of sea kayaking with a Coastal Expeditions guide before paddling to Crab Bank Seabird Rookery.  On the island, the group will shell and hunt for shark teeth before enjoying a picnic lunch by the shore.

December 30th: Morris Island Citizen Science Project
After a boat cruise aboard the school boat, Gannet, campers will participate in a beach sweep, entering in the data to the South Carolina Aquarium’s database.  In addition to this fun service project, campers will learn about the estuary and have time to beach comb on the island!
