Dolphin Week Kayak Tour | April 19
This tour is a special expedition to celebrate dolphins in Charleston and their protection in partnership with the Lowcountry Marine Mammal Network’s Dolphin Week.
Join Lowcountry Marine Mammal Network (LMMN) executive director Lauren Rust on a special sea kayaking tour of the Charleston Harbor at sunset on Friday, April 19th from 6-8pm.
Departing from the Coastal Expeditions dock, Lauren and Coastal Expeditions guides will lead you down Shem Creek towards the Charleston Harbor for a chance to see local bottlenose dolphins. Lauren will talk about the mission of LMMN, the health of our local dolphin populations, and the importance of giving them adequate space when recreating by boat or beachside.
Twenty percent (20%) of your ticket will be donated to the Lowcountry Marine Mammal Network to help them fulfill their mission to protect local marine mammals for future generations through quality science, public outreach and conserving their environment.
Things to Know
ACTIVITY LEVEL
Participants will kayak down a protected tidal creek. No experience needed – we’ll prepare you for the adventure!
TOUR DURATION
2-2.5 hour tour (includes prep, instruction and on-water time)
WHAT TO WEAR
Shoes that you don’t mind getting wet (like Tevas or Chacos), quick-drying clothing
WHAT TO BRING
Drinking water (available for purchase if needed).
WEATHER
Weather (thunderstorms or high winds) may impact this excursion. Cancellations usually occur due to lightning, thunder or high winds and we will make sure to reschedule your group if needed. Our general cancellation policies apply unless our experts determine it is potentially unsafe or unwise to venture out. In the event that we decide to cancel due to weather, we will make every effort to call you at least two hours before your departure and help you reschedule or credit/refund the full cost of your trip.
GRATUITY
Gratuity is not included in your tour price. Our guides go above and beyond to make sure you have a fantastic time out on the water! Average gratuity ranges from 15%–25% of your tour cost based on your experience. It is not required, but always greatly appreciated!

You’ll need to cancel prior to 48-hours or you will not be eligible for a refund for the tour.
