Kiawah River Hike & Boat Book Now

Sunday, December 1st
9 a.m.- 2 p.m.

If you love the Bulls Island Ferry or the St. Phillips Ferry, you’ll enjoy this guided expedition on the protected land and water trails of Kiawah River to see the lush terrain, grand trees and intimate waterways that make up this sea island forest and river.

We’ll start on foot, hiking about a 3-mile loop that begins at the Farmhouse in Kiawah River, an island village in the Charleston countryside. This early December landscape will be dominated by evergreens like live oaks, southern magnolias and palmettos.  This sea island landscape is dominated by mature grand trees, protected over time from hurricanes by the nearby barrier island, Kiawah Island. Native and migratory birds, fox squirrels, deer, bobcat, wild turkeys and more make this habitat home.  The naturalist guide will lead the way, making sure that wildlife viewing opportunities aren’t missed on this maritime forest walk.

The adventure will then take us to Bobcat Landing to board Godwit to explore the marsh and river by boat.  Bottlenose dolphins, bald eagles, American oystercatchers, great blue herons, ibises and more await.

This is a special opportunity to view the wild places just south of Charleston on Johns Island with an experienced Coastal Expeditions naturalist.
