Spring Homeschool Expedition Program
Join us for our Spring program for homeschool students!
Led by the Coastal Expeditions Educational Team, this 10-week program takes students into the saltwater ecosystem to learn about critical habitats, learn new skills and foster an appreciation for the natural world.
Weekly topics include water safety, winds and tides, barrier island ecology, conservation & environmental stewardship, introduction to paddling (for grades 4-8) and more.
Each week we’ll go to a different destination from our Shem Creek campus and adventure out to places like Morris Island to fossil hunt, Shem Creek boardwalk to learn about ecology, Crab Bank to learn about birds and other spots nearby.
Weekly Activities Include:
-Fossil Hunt
-Dip Netting and Marine Animal Identification
-Kayaking and Stand-Up Paddleboarding (4th-6th grades)
-Salt Marsh Scavenger Hunt
-Owl Pellet Dissection
-Pollinator Gardening Project
-Litter Sweep
Grades 6-8: Monday’s from 12pm-3pm
Start Date: March 4th
End Date: May 13th
Grades 1-3: Tuesday’s from 8:30am-11:30am OR 12pm-3pm
Start Date: March 5th
End Date: May 14th
Grades 4-6: Wednesday’s from 12pm-3pm
Start Date: March 6th
End Date: May 15th
*No class the week of CCSD Spring Break (April 4th-8th)
Things to Know
PRICE
$55/class ($550 total)
Families signing up more than one kid: $25 off
DEPOSIT
A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking. Deposits are refundable up to 1 month before the first class.
CANCELLATION POLICY
We require at least 30 days’ notice to be eligible for a deposit refund if you have to cancel your space.
ENROLLMENT MINIMUMS
A minimum of 10 students is required for this program to run. If we don’t meet the minimum, your deposit will be returned in full.
ALL EQUIPMENT & GEAR PROVIDED
Coastal Expeditions will provide everything needed to complete this program, including kayaks, paddleboards, paddles and PFDs.

Mondays: Grades 6-8
Tuesdays: Grades 1-3
Wednesdays: Grades 4-6
