Flip that frown upside-down…Flipper Float is back on Sunday, August 15 at all Coastal Expeditions locations! 100% of kayak and paddleboard rental proceeds benefit conservation initiatives at the South Carolina Aquarium, so you can feel turtle-ly awesome when you participate.
In addition to rental proceeds, you can help the Sea Turtle Care Center™ directly by bringing in important items that are needed, like HE laundry detergent, dish soap, bleach, trash bags (13 gallon) and rubbing alcohol. You can also shop the Aquarium’s Amazon wish list directly by clicking here.
All seven species of sea turtle are listed as threatened or endangered – a reflection of the growing issues surrounding coastal development and climate change. To help ensure that sea turtles have a future in our oceans, the Sea Turtle Care Center, in partnership with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR), rehabilitates sick and injured sea turtles. To date, the Sea Turtle Care Center has rehabilitated and released over 300 sea turtles back into their natural habitats.

Things to Know
RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED
We anticipate this selling out at all locations, so reserve your time slot early. Reservations are available from 10am – 4pm, with the latest return time being 6pm. We will hold your reservation with credit card information, but you will not be charged at the time of booking. Please bring payment with you on the day of the event.
WEATHER
Weather (thunderstorms or high winds) may impact this excursion. Cancellations usually occur due to lightning, thunder or high winds and we will make sure to reschedule your group if needed. Our general cancellation policies apply unless our experts determine it is potentially unsafe or unwise to venture out. In the event that we decide to cancel due to weather, we will make every effort to call you at least two hours before your departure and help you reschedule or credit/refund the full cost of your trip.
GRATUITY
Gratuity is not included in your tour price. Our guides go above and beyond to make sure you have a fantastic time out on the water! Average gratuity ranges from 15%–25% of your tour cost based on your experience. It is not required, but always greatly appreciated!
NEED TO CANCEL?
No problem. Just call us more than 48 hours before the event and we’ll cancel your reservation – no penalty. If you’re a no-show or need to cancel late, we’ll donate the full cost to the South Carolina Aquarium.
