Before coming to Coastal Expeditions, Kevin worked as a Master Wilderness Guide for an addiction treatment center in the mountains of Western North Carolina.

As a Coastal Expeditions guide, Kevin has developed a series of workshops in wilderness skills that include fire-making, traps and primitive shelters.

“Hands down this was the highlight of our trip to Charleston. We left from Shem Creek and Kevin took us all through Shem Creek and out through the Harbor. Our favorite stop was Crab Bank Seabird Sanctuary, which we dubbed “Shark Tooth Island”. After paddling for some time we found this to be a perfect resting stop, and also Kevin taught us how to look for fossilized shark teeth, which once you get the hang of it start popping up everywhere. Some great souvenirs to bring back with us to New York. Not only was Kevin a great guide and very conscious of the group’s safety through busy waterways, but he was incredibly knowledgeable about the nature and wildlife in the area. Whether you are lucky enough to have Kevin as your guide or any of the other people that work there, every single person we encountered from the person who took our reservation, to the guys at check in, the team who helped us settle into the kayaks, everyone was incredibly friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend Coastal Expeditions for anyone traveling to Charleston, truly a memorable experience.”
