Coastal Expeditions is now hiring for the 2020 season! We are looking for energetic, nature-loving spirits to fill Shop Help and Entry-Level Guide positions (details below). Coastal Expeditions offers a fun, laid back work environment on Shem Creek with amazing views and unlimited access to kayaks and stand-up paddleboards for employees! SHOP HELP
Employment Dates:
Start and end dates for this position are flexible, but would ideally range from around March 15th – August 15th. Must work weekends. This is perfect for summer employment for college or high school students.
Duties include:
- Assisting renters with all aspects of the rental process: instruction, carrying the boat to launch, creating
- a float plan, launching, cleaning boats
- Assisting guides with tours: carrying boats, cleaning boats and gear, helping clients
- Answering phones and making reservations
- Assist managers with various projects as needed: maintenance, data entry, stocking, cleaning, etc.
ENTRY-LEVEL GUIDES
Employment Dates:
The ideal candidate for this position is available for full-time work from February 20th – November 30th. End date can be slightly flexible, and often part time work is available beyond that date for guides returning the following season.
Guide duties include:
- Working Shop Help shifts while training to become a junior and then senior guide
- Guiding kayak and paddleboard tours
- Leading hiking and kayaking field trips
- Guiding overnight camping expeditions
- First mate and hiking guide shifts as needed
Time commitment:
We are looking for full-time, seasonal employees who can commit at least 5 days per week which must include Saturday and Sunday.
Pay:
Pay is hourly plus tips and is commensurate with experience and depends on the position.
After the first full season of employment, employees are eligible for an IRA matching program and health insurance benefits. Other benefits include CPR, First Aid, AED and lifeguard training, kayak instructor training, interpretive and educational training,and use of kayaks and SUPs.
